Genuine Yuasa batteries for fire alarm panels, intruder alarms, access control, emergency lighting and UPS systems. Choose from the Yuasa NP, Yuvolt and REC sealed lead acid (VRLA) ranges, including flame retardant (FR) versions, in 6V and 12V sizes from 1Ah to 160Ah.
Yuasa battery ranges we stock
- Yuasa NP series – the standard sealed lead acid AGM battery for standby duty, including the NP7-12 12V 7Ah, NP12-12 12V 12Ah, NP17-12 12V 17Ah, NP24-12 and NP38-12. Flame retardant models include the NP7-12FR and NP17-12FR.
- Yuasa Yuvolt – a cost-effective sealed lead acid range, such as the Yuvolt Y7-12 12V 7Ah, with FR versions available. See also our Yucel range.
- REC cyclic and deep cycle – built for repeated charge and discharge, for example the REC22-12 12V 22Ah.
- Larger industrial VRLA – high rate, front terminal and long life blocks for UPS and larger standby systems, including the SWL+ 12V 80Ah, FXH 12V 45Ah front terminal and NPL130-6FR.
- Emergency lighting and lithium – high temperature NiCd emergency lighting packs, CR123A 3V lithium and YU-Lite 3.6V AA lithium cells.
How to choose the right Yuasa battery
- Match voltage and capacity. The model code tells you both: NP7-12 is 12V 7Ah, NP17-12 is 12V 17Ah. A 24V panel normally uses two 12V batteries wired in series.
- Size capacity to the standby calculation. Multiply standby current by the required standby hours, add alarm current for the alarm period, then add a safety margin. The panel manufacturer's calculation and the system specification set the figures.
- Check it fits. Confirm dimensions and terminal type suit the enclosure.
- Use FR where specified. Choose a flame retardant model where the specification or equipment manufacturer requires one.
- Standby or cyclic? NP and Yuvolt suit float standby; REC and cyclic types suit regular discharge.
- Replace as a set. Batteries in series should be the same model and age.

Yuasa battery FAQs
Are Yuasa batteries good?
Yuasa is a long-established Japanese battery brand, part of GS Yuasa, and its NP series is one of the most familiar standby batteries in UK fire and security panels.
How long does a Yuasa battery last?
Yuasa rates NP batteries for a design life of up to 5 years in standby use. Heat, deep discharges and incorrect charging shorten it, so test batteries at every service and replace any that fail.
What is the difference between the NP7-12 and NP7-12FR?
Both are 12V 7Ah. The NP7-12FR has a flame retardant case for installations that specify one.
Is a Yuasa NP battery a VRLA battery?
Yes. NP batteries are valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) with AGM construction: sealed and maintenance free, with no topping up required.
Do you sell Yuasa car batteries?
No. This range covers standby, cyclic, emergency lighting and lithium batteries for fire, security and UPS equipment.
