Fire alarm panels for installers: conventional, two-wire, addressable and wireless control panels from 1 zone to 8 loops, plus repeaters and spares – all genuine, brand new and factory sealed, with fast, tracked UK delivery.
Conventional vs addressable fire alarm panels
Conventional fire alarm panels divide the building into zones, each wired as a separate radial circuit. In an alarm the panel shows which zone has operated, not which device. They suit smaller premises such as shops and small offices. Two-wire panels are a conventional variant in which detectors and sounders share the same pair of cables on each zone.
Addressable fire alarm panels connect detectors, call points and sounders on one or more loops. Every device has its own address, so the panel shows exactly which device has triggered an alarm or fault – suited to offices, hotels and larger buildings.
Fire alarm panels we stock
- 4 zone fire alarm panels – the C-TEC CFP704-4, Advanced QZ-4 QuickZone, Kidde NC-PF4, Fike TwinflexPro² 4 zone and Global Fire ORION-4. Other conventional panels run from 1 to 32 zones.
- Two-wire panels – C-TEC CFP AlarmSense, Zeta Infinity ID2 and Fike TwinflexPro².
- Addressable fire alarm panels – 1 to 8 loop panels: Advanced MxPro 5 and Go1+, Kentec Syncro AS, C-TEC XFP and ZFP, Notifier ID3000, Morley-IAS MAX and FireClass FC702S.
- Wireless panels – EMS FireCell and Zerio Plus. See wireless fire detection.
- Repeaters, extinguishant panels and spares – C-TEC XFP510-16 and CFP760 repeaters, Kentec Sigma XT+ extinguishing panels, plus keys, doors, PCBs and loop cards. Disabled refuge systems, batteries and power supplies are listed separately.
How many zones or loops do you need?
- Zones: BS 5839-1 says a detection zone should cover no more than one storey (unless the building's total floor area is under 300 m²) and no more than 2,000 m², with a search distance of no more than 60 m. Stairwells and lift shafts are separate zones. Allow spare capacity.
- Loops: the number of devices per loop depends on the protocol – the single-loop Advanced Go1+ takes 126/127 addresses (Apollo/Hochiki), the Go1V+ 240 (Argus). Short-circuit isolators should limit a single fault to 2,000 m² and one storey, and two simultaneous faults to 10,000 m².
- Protocol: addressable devices must use the panel's protocol, e.g. Apollo XP95/Discovery, Hochiki ESP, Argus Vega or C-TEC CAST.
- Standards: panels are covered by EN 54-2 and power supplies by EN 54-4; zones and loops should be designed by a competent person to BS 5839-1.

Fire alarm panel FAQs
What does a fire alarm panel do?
The fire alarm control panel, or control and indicating equipment (CIE), monitors detectors and call points, operates sounders and beacons, shows where an alarm or fault is and runs on standby batteries if mains power fails.
What size fire alarm panel do I need?
Match it to the zones or devices on the design. A 2 or 4 zone panel often suits a small single-storey building; larger or multi-storey sites usually suit an addressable panel.
Can an electrician install a fire alarm panel?
It should be installed by a competent person working to BS 5839-1, with wiring to BS 7671.
