Fire extinguisher types and fire classes
- Water fire extinguishers – Class A fires (wood, paper, textiles). Not for flammable liquids, cooking oil or live electrical equipment. E.g. Firechief CTX 6L Water.
- Foam fire extinguishers – Class A and B (flammable liquids), including fluorine-free options such as the Commander 6L Fluorine Free Foam.
- CO2 fire extinguishers – Class B and electrical equipment, leaving no residue, e.g. the Commander 5kg CO2. Not rated for Class A.
- Dry powder fire extinguishers – ABC powder covers Class A, B and C and electrical fires, e.g. the Commander 6kg ABC Powder.
