FireBlitz automatic fire extinguishers protect enclosed spaces where nobody is on hand to fight a fire, such as plant rooms, electrical and server cupboards and machinery enclosures. Mounted above the risk, they discharge automatically when the temperature reaches their activation point.
FireBlitz extinguishers we stock
- Automatic dry powder extinguishers – FireBlitz automatic 1kg dry powder and 2kg dry powder units for small enclosed areas.
- Automatic clean agent extinguishers – 1.5kg, 2kg, 4kg and 6kg units, where you want to avoid powder residue on equipment.
How to choose an automatic fire extinguisher
- Protected volume – size the unit to the space. Larger rooms or enclosures need a bigger charge or more than one unit; check the manufacturer's coverage figures for each size.
- Agent – dry powder is effective on a wide range of fires but leaves a residue that is hard to clean from electronics. Clean agent leaves no residue, which suits electrical rooms, server cupboards and control panels.
- Position – mount the extinguisher above the fire risk so heat reaches the heat-sensitive trigger quickly, following the fitting instructions.
- Enclosure – automatic units work best in a closed space, where the agent is contained around the fire.
- Back-up – automatic units do not replace portable fire extinguishers or a fire alarm system; use them to add protection to specific risks.
For spares and servicing parts, see fire extinguisher spares, and store portable units on stands or in cabinets.

Automatic fire extinguisher FAQs
How does an automatic fire extinguisher work?
A heat-sensitive element holds the agent in the cylinder. When a fire raises the temperature to the activation point, the element breaks and the extinguishing agent discharges over the area below, with no one needing to be present.
What is a clean agent fire extinguisher?
It uses a gaseous extinguishing agent that leaves no residue, so it is well suited to protecting electrical and electronic equipment.
Where should an automatic fire extinguisher be fitted?
Fit it directly above the risk, inside the enclosure or room it protects, and inspect it as part of routine fire equipment maintenance.
