Choosing an EMS Wireless System

Wireless fire detection suits occupied buildings, heritage properties and phased refurbishments where running cable is disruptive. FireCell is modular, using radio hubs and radio cluster communicators with Syncro AS panels or to extend an existing system by radio, while SmartCell is a self-contained wireless system with its own 230V or 24V panel. Always carry out a radio survey before installation, and never mix FireCell and SmartCell devices. Compare other wireless fire detection.

EMS Wireless Fire Alarm FAQs

Are wireless fire alarms legal in the UK?

Yes. Radio-linked systems can be designed and installed to BS 5839-1 like wired systems, and radio components should meet EN 54-25. EMS lists FireCell devices such as the FCX-177-001 detector as EN 54-25 compliant.

What is the difference between FireCell and SmartCell?

FireCell uses radio hubs and communicators, with Syncro AS panels or as a radio extension. SmartCell has its own dedicated wireless panels. The two are not interchangeable.

Can I buy FireCell detector heads without a base?

Yes. Heads, wireless bases and sounder bases are sold separately, so you can replace only the part you need.
