Choosing the right Paxton system
- Single door, no PC: Switch2 or Compact.
- Multiple doors, central management: Net2 gives central user management, event reporting and control over who goes where, and when.
- Doors and cameras together: Paxton10.
- Doors that are hard to cable: PaxLock Pro communicates wirelessly, avoiding cable runs to the door.
- Tokens: match tokens to the system and reader technology, for example Net2 tokens for Net2 and MIFARE tokens for MIFARE readers. If in doubt, check the product details before ordering in bulk.

Paxton access control FAQs
How does Paxton access control work?
A reader or keypad reads a user's token or PIN and passes it to a door controller, which checks their permissions and releases the lock if access is allowed. On Net2 and Paxton10, users are managed centrally in software and door events are logged.
What is the difference between Paxton Net2 and Paxton10?
Net2 is Paxton's established networked access control system, managed from software on a Windows PC or server. Paxton10 combines access control and video surveillance in one system managed through a web browser or app.
How do you add a new Paxton fob?
On Net2, fobs are assigned to users in the Net2 software, usually by presenting them to a Net2 desktop reader or door reader. Switch2 uses enrolment cards to add and remove tokens.
Does PaxLock Pro work with Net2?
Yes. PaxLock Pro connects to Net2 wirelessly through a Net2Air Bridge, and is also compatible with Paxton10.
