Hochiki Smoke Detectors

Hochiki smoke detectors for fire alarm systems, covering the ESP addressable range and the CDX conventional range. Optical detectors suit escape routes, offices and general areas where smouldering fires are the main concern, and variants are available for marine and hazardous-area use.

ESP and CDX explained

• ESP is Hochiki's addressable protocol. ESP detectors, such as the ALN-EN series, report to the panel individually and must be used with an ESP-compatible panel.
• CDX detectors are conventional. They signal an alarm on a zone and connect to conventional panels. The SOC-E3N is a typical example.
• Specialist versions include marine-approved detectors and intrinsically safe (I.S.) models for areas with explosive atmospheres, which need suitably certified equipment and a compatible barrier or interface.

Before you order

• Do not mix addressable protocols on one loop. Hochiki ESP detectors will not work on an Apollo or Notifier loop, and the reverse also applies.
• Heads are normally sold without a base, so select a compatible Hochiki YBN base from our detector bases, including isolating and sounder versions.
• Optical smoke detectors are tested to EN 54-7, and positions should follow the system design to BS 5839-1.
