CCTV signs tell people that video surveillance is in operation, which is a key part of using CCTV lawfully. We stock data-compliant Haydon CCTV warning signs in A3, A4 and A5 sizes, as rigid signs and window stickers, with versions for systems that record audio as well as video.

CCTV warning signs we stock

Standard CCTV warning signs – A3 (297 x 420mm), A4 (210 x 297mm) and A5 signs for entrances, car parks, perimeters and internal areas.
Video and audio recording signs – A4 and A5 signs for systems that also record sound.
Window stickers – A5 CCTV window stickers for shop fronts and glazed doors, including a video and audio version.

These signs come from Haydon, alongside its CCTV power supplies, enclosures and install accessories.

How to choose and place CCTV signs

Say what you record – if your system records audio as well as video, use a sign that says so.
Include the operator's details – signs should identify who operates the system and how to contact them.
Size for viewing distance – use A3 or A4 signs at vehicle entrances and on perimeters, and A5 signs or window stickers at doors and reception points.
Place signs before the camera zone – people should see the sign before they enter the area being recorded.

CCTV sign FAQs

If you have CCTV, do you need a sign?

Businesses and organisations using CCTV must tell people they are being recorded under UK data protection law, and the ICO's guidance expects clear, visible signs that identify the operator.

Do I need a CCTV sign on my house?

If your cameras capture images beyond your own property boundary, data protection law applies and the ICO recommends letting people know, and a sign is the simplest way to do that.
