Fire Extinguisher ID Signs

Fire extinguisher ID signs tell people which type of extinguisher is mounted on a wall or stand, and which fires it should and should not be used on. This range covers water, foam, CO2, ABC powder, wet chemical and water mist identification signs, along with general fire extinguisher location and point signs.

Choosing an extinguisher ID sign

• Match the colour band. Each sign follows the colour coding of the extinguisher it identifies: red for water, cream for foam, black for CO2, blue for powder and yellow for wet chemical.
• Pick the finish. Photoluminescent and self-adhesive vinyl signs suit most walls and extinguisher stands, rigid PVC is a durable general choice, and brushed aluminium or stainless steel suits reception areas and offices.
• Portrait or landscape. Portrait signs sit neatly above an extinguisher on a narrow wall, while landscape signs fit wider mounting positions.
• Check the language. Welsh-language versions are available for several extinguisher types.

Brands in the range include Jewel, Firechief, CheckFire and Contempo. ID signs are used alongside the extinguishers themselves, so browse fire extinguishers and extinguisher stands to complete a fire point.

For other safety signage, including fire action notices and assembly point signs, see our fire safety signs collection. Extinguisher signs should be positioned so that the type of extinguisher can be read before it is lifted from its bracket, and a fire risk assessment will confirm what each area of your premises needs.
