How to choose the right accessory

• Match the panel: back boxes, frames and rain shields are made for a specific panel series, size and module count, so check the panel model or dimensions before ordering.
• Surface or flush: flush boxes are recessed into the wall; surface boxes suit walls that cannot be chased out.
• Exposure: fit a rain shield or hood where the panel faces the weather.
• Bus capacity: 2-wire distributors and splitters branch the bus to more monitors; stay within the manufacturer's system limits.

Door entry accessories FAQs

Are intercom back boxes universal?

No. Back boxes and rain shields are designed for a particular manufacturer and panel range, so a Videx back box will not normally fit a Comelit or Hikvision panel. Order by the panel model.

What is a fireman's drop key switch?

A key switch fitted near an entrance that lets the fire and rescue service release the door using a standard drop key, so they can get into a building controlled by door entry or access control.

Do I need a rain shield for my door entry panel?

On exposed entrances a rain shield or hood helps protect the speaker, camera and buttons from direct rain. Several Videx surface back boxes come with one.
