How to choose Aico alarms
- Power: mains alarms with back-up suit new builds and rewires; 10 year battery RadioLINK+ alarms avoid new wiring in occupied homes.
- Sensor type: optical or multi-sensor alarms for hallways, landings and living rooms, heat alarms for kitchens, and CO alarms near fuel-burning appliances.
- Interlink: in England rented homes need a smoke alarm on every storey, and in Scotland alarms in homes must be interlinked. RadioLINK+ lets alarms interlink without cable.

Aico smoke alarm FAQs
Are Aico smoke alarms any good?
Aico is a long-established UK maker of domestic alarms, and its smoke alarms are designed to BS EN 14604. The range covers mains and 10 year battery alarms, with radio interlink options.
What is the difference between RadioLINK and RadioLINK+?
Both are Aico's radio interlink systems. RadioLINK+ is the newer version used in current alarms such as the Ei650iRF and the Ei3000MRF module. Check compatibility before mixing the two.
Which Aico alarm should go in a kitchen?
A heat alarm such as the Ei3014 or Ei603RF, because smoke alarms in kitchens are prone to false alarms from cooking.
How long do Aico smoke alarms last?
Most smoke and heat alarms, including Aico models, should be replaced 10 years after installation. Check the replace-by date on the alarm.
