The Apollo 53541-170APO is a longer sampling tube for the Apollo duct smoke detector, for ducts 300mm to 750mm wide. The duct detector is supplied as standard with a 360mm sampling tube for ducts up to 540mm; longer tubes are ordered separately for wider ducts.
The perforated sampling tube spans the duct upstream of the exhaust tube, creating a pressure differential that draws air across the detector head. The tube should reach from one side of the duct to the other; it may need to be cut to slightly more than the duct width, supported through a hole in the opposite duct wall and closed with a red bung.
