The System Sensor OSI-RE-SS is a conventional OSID reflective imaging beam smoke detector for protecting large open spaces such as warehouses and atriums. It is a combined infrared transmitter and CMOS imaging receiver in one unit that sends a beam to a high-efficiency reflector and measures the returned signal; a drop in signal strength caused by smoke triggers an alarm. It connects directly to a conventional detector circuit.
The imager has a wide 12° field of view and automatically tracks the reflector if the building or support structure moves, removing a leading cause of false alarms and faults with traditional beam detectors. Sensitivity is set automatically from the size of the reflector in the field of view, and a remote RTS151 test and reset station allows testing from ground level.
