- Type A or Type B – Type A fire telephones are for fire service and fire marshal use; Type B outstations are placed at disabled refuges so people waiting for help can talk to the control point.
- Panel size – choose an Orbital panel with enough lines for every outstation, plus spare capacity.
- Radial or loop wiring – radial systems wire each outstation back to the panel; loop-wired systems use isolator back boxes on a shared loop.
- Environment – specify IP33 or IP65 outstations for external or exposed refuges.
