Planning a Cameo EVC system

• Type A or Type B – Type A fire telephones are for fire service and fire marshal use; Type B outstations are placed at disabled refuges so people waiting for help can talk to the control point.
• Panel size – choose an Orbital panel with enough lines for every outstation, plus spare capacity.
• Radial or loop wiring – radial systems wire each outstation back to the panel; loop-wired systems use isolator back boxes on a shared loop.
• Environment – specify IP33 or IP65 outstations for external or exposed refuges.

Cameo Systems FAQs

What is a Cameo refuge system?

A Cameo Orbital panel with Type B outstations: a two-way communication system that lets people waiting in a refuge area during an evacuation speak to building staff, who can then organise their assisted escape.

Which standard covers refuge systems and fire telephones?

BS 5839-9 covers emergency voice communication systems, including Type A fire telephones and Type B disabled refuge outstations.

Can one Cameo panel handle refuges and toilet alarms?

Yes. Orbital RS4 to RS32 systems cover disabled refuge and toilet alarm lines, and the RS2-TA is a 2-line disabled refuge and toilet alarm panel.
