Photoluminescent Signs

Photoluminescent signs absorb light and then glow for a period after the lighting goes out, which helps people find their way if the normal lighting fails. This range brings together photoluminescent fire exit signs, fire extinguisher ID signs, fire door signs, fire action notices and assembly point signs.

What photoluminescent signs do

The pigment charges when exposed to normal light and releases it slowly, so the sign remains visible in the dark. Photoluminescent signs supplement emergency lighting rather than replace it, and they need to be fitted where they receive enough light to charge.

Choosing a photoluminescent sign

• Sign type. Exit and direction signs for escape routes, ID signs for extinguishers, and notices for fire doors, fire action and assembly points.
• Format. Rigid plastic is a durable general choice, while self-adhesive vinyl suits doors and smooth surfaces.
• Size. Larger signs read better in long corridors and open areas.
