External Sirens & Bell Boxes

External sirens and bell boxes for intruder alarm systems, providing the audible and visual warning on the outside of a building. The range includes wired external sirens from Eaton and wireless outdoor sirens from Ajax and JCI PowerG, in a choice of colours and lens options.

Choosing an external siren

• Match the panel: wireless sirens only work with their own radio system, so an Ajax StreetSiren needs an Ajax hub and a PowerG siren needs a PowerG panel. Wired sirens must suit the panel's siren output and tamper circuits.
• Match the grade: the siren should meet the security grade of the system, so check the grade shown on the product page against the specification or insurer's requirement.
• Wired or wireless: wired sirens are usual for new installations, while wireless models save cabling on retrofit jobs. Wireless sirens are battery powered, so allow for battery life and servicing.
• Visual deterrent: many external sirens include a strobe or lens colour, which can be matched to the customer's preference.

Sirens are one part of a complete system. Pair them with intruder alarm panels and kits, PIR and motion sensors and door contacts and sensors, or browse all intruder detection equipment.

External siren FAQs

Can I fit any external siren to any alarm panel?

No. The siren must be compatible with the panel and meet the grade of the installation. Wireless sirens also need to be on the same radio platform as the panel.

What is the difference between a siren and a bell box?

A bell box is the traditional name for a weatherproof external sounder housing; modern external sirens serve the same purpose and often combine a sounder and strobe.
