The Edwards 6830-4 is a four-state fixed telephone handset assembly in red for Edwards firefighters' telephone stations. An enclosed, key-locked telephone station is made up of three separately ordered parts: this handset assembly, a 6831 series frontplate and a 6832-1 wallbox.
When the handset is lifted from its cradle it activates audible and visible signals at the control panel, where the operator answers by lifting the panel handset. Other firefighters' telephones can be selected at the panel to join the conversation.
