The IB981 is a factory-encoded passive tag that does not include a battery. It can be used in combination with any Cotag reader. When it is used with a Cotag hands-free reader‚ the reading range is approximately 29 cm. With Cotag proximity readers‚ the reading range with the IB981 varies between 2 and 9 cm. One of the major advantages of Cotag technology is that active and passive cards can be mixed in the same system to provide ultimate convenience and cost-efficiency.
