Takex beams, beam towers and outdoor PIRs for perimeter and external intruder detection. The range covers twin, quad and anti-crawl photoelectric beams with ranges up to 200m, plus towers, heaters and mounting accessories.
Takex photoelectric beams
- Twin beams: single-channel and 4-channel models from 20m to 100m, such as the Takex Twin Beams 4 Channel up to 60m.
- Quad beams: 50m, 100m and 200m models, including the Takex Quad Beams 4 Channel up to 200m and a battery-operated 100m double-modulation version.
- Anti-crawl beams: 4-channel sets up to 100m, including high-security versions for use in TA beam towers.
- Battery-operated and short-range beams: the 20m battery-operated twin beam, a miniature single beam up to 10m, and reflective beams including a 30m time-of-flight model.
Beam towers and accessories
Single- and double-sided beam tower enclosures in 1.5m and 2m heights for floor or wall mounting, and 2m towers pre-wired for two or three beams with motherboard and heaters, such as the double-sided 2m tower for 3 beams. Accessories include tower heaters and thermostats, anti-climb tamper switches, first-fix floor brackets, galvanised poles, replacement covers and the Takex 3.6V D cell lithium battery.
Takex outdoor and ceiling PIRs
Dual-zone outdoor PIRs covering 12m at 90 or 180 degrees, with anti-masking and battery-operated versions including the TX-114SR, a 15m triple-mirror PIR, and ceiling PIRs up to 15.2m/360 degrees. See also our PIR and motion sensors.
How to choose a Takex beam
- Range: choose a beam whose rated range comfortably exceeds the distance you need to protect, as fog, rain and frost reduce performance outdoors.
- Twin or quad: quad beams require all four beams to be broken together, which helps reduce false alarms from birds and falling leaves.
- Channels: 4-channel models let you set different frequencies so stacked or neighbouring beam sets do not interfere with each other.
- Environment and power: use heaters on exposed sites, and battery-operated models where cabling is not practical.

Takex beam FAQs
What are Takex beams used for?
They create an invisible infrared line between a transmitter and receiver. Breaking it triggers an alarm, so beams are used to protect perimeters, open ground, walls and gates, and long internal spaces.
Are beams good security?
Beams give early warning at the perimeter, before an intruder reaches the building. They work best as part of a layered system with PIRs and door contacts, and correct alignment is key to reliable operation.
What is a beam tower?
A tower is a weatherproof enclosure that houses one or more beams at different heights, protecting them from tampering and the weather and making stacked beams easy to align.
