Apollo XP95 & Discovery Detectors

Apollo XP95 and Discovery are addressable detector families used on a large number of fire alarm loops in UK commercial and industrial buildings. This page lists the detector heads in both ranges: optical smoke, heat, multi-sensor and carbon monoxide detectors, including marine-approved, SIL2 and intrinsically safe versions.

XP95 or Discovery?

• XP95 is the older of the two protocols. XP95 heads include optical smoke detectors, A2S and CS heat detectors and a multi-sensor detector.
• Discovery is the later protocol, with optical smoke, heat, multi-sensor and CO detectors. Discovery devices can work with XP95 devices on a suitable Apollo loop, but the panel must support the protocols in use. Check the panel manufacturer's information.
• Do not mix protocols from other manufacturers, such as Hochiki ESP, on the same loop.

Standards and bases

Smoke detectors are tested to EN 54-7 and heat detectors to EN 54-5. Heads are usually sold separately from the base: XP95 and Discovery detectors fit the Apollo XPERT 7 base in standard, deep and isolating versions. Browse our detector bases to choose one.
