The Edwards SIGA-OSDI is an intelligent optical smoke detector from the Signature Series range for the Edwards EST4 life safety control platform. It uses a multi-criteria optical smoke sensor, and Edwards describes it as the workhorse of modern fire alarm systems.
Like other Signature Series detectors, it has its own on-board processing. It tracks sensor readings over time and compares them with known fire signatures, so it only raises an alarm when a match is found. This helps it tell the difference between a harmless puff of dust and real smoke.
