The Hochiki DFJ-CE3 is a conventional 90 °C fixed temperature heat detector in an ivory case. It uses a thermistor and linearising circuit to give an accurate linear response, and suits areas where medium ambient temperatures exist or where smoke detectors are unsuitable because of steam or cooking fumes, such as kitchens and drying rooms. It works on the majority of conventional fire alarm systems and fits the Hochiki CDX range of conventional bases; a third terminal provides a remote indicator output.
