The Nittan EV-DP (part no. F14-82105) is an analogue addressable dual optical smoke detector for Nittan Evolution fire alarm systems. Like other optical detectors it works on the scattered-light principle, but it uses both an infra-red and a blue LED to measure the particles in its chamber more accurately.
By comparing the readings at the two wavelengths, the EV-DP works out particle size and can tell smoke apart from non-combustion products such as steam and dust. Nittan developed this patented technology to cut false alarms in areas prone to steam and dust, such as hotels, hospitals and other multiple-occupancy buildings.
