A 4-channel NVR records up to four IP cameras, which suits small shops, offices, homes and other compact sites. Many 4-channel models include built-in PoE ports, so each camera is powered and connected over a single network cable without a separate switch.
Choosing a 4-channel NVR
Camera count: four channels means four cameras. If you may add cameras later, consider an 8-channel NVR to leave room for expansion.
PoE: check that the number of PoE ports matches the number of cameras, and look at the total PoE power budget if you plan to use higher-power cameras.
Resolution and bandwidth: compare the recorder's maximum incoming bandwidth and supported camera resolution with your cameras.
Storage: compact recorders usually have a single drive bay. Check whether a hard drive is included, and choose a surveillance-rated drive sized for the number of cameras and the retention period you need.
The range includes recorders from Hikvision, Dahua, Hanwha Vision and HiLook. To see every recorder with built-in PoE, browse our PoE NVRs, or return to all NVR and DVR recorders. Contact our team if you would like help matching a recorder to your cameras.
