The Hochiki FL-DF1 is the replacement dust filter (dust separator) for the FIRElink-400 series aspirating smoke detectors. The dust separator is the only part of the detector that may need replacing in the field during servicing.
The detector's Diagnostics menu gives a percentage reading of dust separator efficiency; when this drops to 80% the detector shows a "Separator renew" fault. The filter element fits into its plastic end piece with the "IN" legend towards the front of the detector, and the detector starts a FastLearn routine automatically once the new filter is fitted. Suitable masks and protective clothing should be worn when changing filters.
