The Hochiki FL-90BR is a red 90 degree bend from the FIRElink range of sampling pipe, fittings and accessories. These are designed specifically for low pressure / high flow rate aspirating smoke detection systems such as Hochiki FIRElink.
FIRElink sampling pipe and fittings are made from red ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), chosen because it is easy to install and offers excellent rigidity, chemical resistance, impact strength and weather resistance. Hochiki's pipe network guidance recommends 90° bends as the way to change direction in a sampling pipe run. Joints in the sampling pipe network should be permanent and airtight, so each joint is cemented with an ABS jointing compound (not at the tapered detector inlets, which take the pipe with a firm twist).
