The Kidde Firex KF20LL is a 230V mains-powered optical smoke alarm supplied with a long-life 9V lithium back-up battery. It can be hard-wire interlinked with up to 23 other Kidde Firex mains alarms (optical, ionisation or heat), so that when one unit detects danger every connected alarm sounds. Optical alarms are intended for escape routes and circulation areas where slow, smouldering fires are a risk; Kidde recommends a Firex heat alarm for kitchens. It should be installed by a qualified electrician.
