The Notifier NFSTI-OPT is an addressable optical smoke detector with built-in isolator and automatic Self-Test. The detector tests itself with real smoke: an embedded module makes an aerosol, and a small fan blows it through the optical chamber and out of the smoke entry points to show they are not blocked.
Each detector also has a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacon that is recognised by the Connected Life Safety Services (CLSS) app, so an engineer can confirm visual inspections on site. The Self-Test functions work with Notifier INSPIRE panels (software 1.2.0-R.108 or later). Self-Test is a licensed feature that needs a CLSS gateway and the CLSS mobile app.
Key features
- Automatic functional test with real smoke; up to 1 minute per device
- Tests can be run per device, per loop or for the whole panel
- Fan-assisted test also checks that the smoke entry points are clear
- BLE beacon for CLSS-assisted visual inspection and compliance reporting
- Built-in isolator, used or bypassed depending on wiring
- Two LEDs give 360° local indication; remote LED indicator can be connected to the standard base terminals
- Rotary address switches (01 to 159)
- Tamper resistance: cannot be removed from the base without a tool
- Works with AP and CLIP protocols (Self-Test mode needs AP)
- Fits the existing detector base (B501AP) and is electrically and mechanically backwards compatible
