The Geofire Agrippa sound-activated fire door holder (3-80-0060, white finish) is a battery-powered magnetic device used to legally hold open internal fire doors, with no wiring to the fire alarm system. The holder is fitted to the wall with a keeper plate on the top of the door (or can be floor mounted with the optional bracket). When it hears the fire alarm, it releases the door so that the door closer shuts it, helping to prevent the spread of smoke and flames.
Its "listen and learn" technology records the specific sound of the building's fire alarm, so doors close on hearing that sound rather than other loud noises. As with all sound-activated devices, it may be triggered in an extremely noisy environment, where Geofire recommends its Salamander radio-controlled system instead.
