About CCTV Cameras & Systems
Trade CCTV cameras for installers, from Hikvision IP network cameras to Turbo HD analogue models in turret, bullet, dome and PTZ styles. Pair them with a matching NVR or DVR recorder to build a complete system.
CCTV camera types we stock
- IP (network) cameras – PoE cameras from 2MP to 4K (8MP) and above, many with AcuSense human and vehicle classification, such as the DS-2CD2386G2-IU 4K AcuSense turret.
- Turbo HD analogue cameras – HD-over-coax cameras, many with switchable TVI/AHD/CVI/CVBS output, like the DS-2CE78H0T-IT3FS 5MP audio turret, plus PoC models powered over the coax, such as the 4K ColorVu PoC turret.
- ColorVu and Smart Hybrid Light – colour images at night using white light, for example the DS-2CD2347G2H-LIU 4MP ColorVu turret.
- Bullet and dome cameras – including the DS-2CD2T46G2-2I 4MP AcuSense bullet and the IK08 vandal-resistant DS-2CD2546G2-IS mini dome.
- PTZ and specialist cameras – TandemVu PTZ, Turbo HD 15x PTZ, thermal bi-spectrum, fisheye, PanoVu, ANPR and explosion-proof models.
Most cameras are from Hikvision, alongside mounts, PoE switches, PSUs and connectors from Hikvision and Haydon. See also TruVision, CCTV accessories and cable and networking.
How to choose a CCTV camera
- IP or analogue: for new installs, IP cameras with a PoE NVR use one network cable for power and video. Where coax is already in place, Turbo HD cameras with a DVR let you reuse it.
- Resolution: 4MP suits most general views; 4K (8MP) gives more detail across wider scenes.
- Lens: a 2.8mm lens gives a wide view; 4mm or 6mm a narrower, more detailed one. Varifocal lenses adjust on site.
- Night vision: infrared gives black-and-white images in darkness; ColorVu and Smart Hybrid Light models can record in colour.
- Recorder: check the NVR or DVR supports the camera type, resolution and channel count.

CCTV camera FAQs
What is the difference between an IP camera and an analogue CCTV camera?
An IP camera encodes video itself and sends it over a network cable to an NVR. An analogue HD camera, such as Hikvision Turbo HD, sends video over coax to a DVR, which does the encoding.
What is a PoE camera?
A PoE (Power over Ethernet) camera takes power and data through a single network cable from a PoE NVR or PoE switch, so no separate power supply is needed at the camera.
Do CCTV cameras work at night?
Yes. Most use infrared for black-and-white night images. ColorVu cameras use a sensitive sensor and white light to keep images in colour.
Turret, bullet or dome – which is best?
Turrets are easy to aim and suit most walls and soffits. Bullets are a visible deterrent and often suit longer views. Domes are discreet and, when vandal-rated, harder to tamper with.
What is the difference between ColorVu and AcuSense?
They solve different problems. ColorVu is a Hikvision low-light technology that uses a sensitive sensor and a wide-aperture lens, often with white light, to keep colour images at night. AcuSense is video analytics that classifies humans and vehicles, which helps reduce alerts caused by animals, rain or foliage. Some cameras offer both, so check the datasheet.
Will cameras from different brands work with the same recorder?
Most IP cameras support ONVIF, so they can usually be added to another brand's NVR for live view and recording. Brand-specific smart features, such as AcuSense or WizSense analytics, may not work or may not generate events on a different brand's recorder. Check compatibility before mixing brands.
What does a PTZ camera do?
A PTZ (pan, tilt, zoom) camera can be turned and zoomed remotely or set to follow patrol routes, so one camera can cover a wide area and zoom in on detail. It suits open sites such as car parks and yards. See our PTZ cameras.
Is 4K worth it compared with 4MP?
4K (8MP) records more pixels, which helps when you need detail across a wide scene or want to digitally zoom into recordings. It also needs more bandwidth and storage than 4MP. For general views, 4MP is often enough; choose 4K where identification detail matters.
