The Xtralis VHX-0300 is the VESDA Open Protocol High Level Interface (HLI), peer-to-peer version. It links a VESDAnet network of VESDA detectors to a host such as PC monitoring software, a building management system (BMS) or a fire alarm control panel (FACP). In the peer-to-peer model the host polls the HLI for information, while the HLI can also send unsolicited messages to the host.
Key features
- Peer-to-peer communication: both the HLI and the host supervise the link; the host can request and receive multiple messages
- Reports detector type (VLC, VLS, VLP, VLF) and supports Mimic Mode for VLP/VLC/VLS
- Alarm status (Alert, Action, Fire 1 and Fire 2) and fault status (system, zone, urgent, power, network, flow, filter)
- Detector status (isolated, normalising, AutoLearn, scanning), display information and smoke level updates
- Fault details with ASCII fault strings, plus detector controls (reset, isolate, silence, test, scan)
- Direct access to, and monitoring of, the VESDAnet system
- Seamless data transfer
- Easily configured using Xtralis configuration and monitoring software
- VESDAnet is a fault-tolerant, bi-directional protocol: if one direction of communication fails, messages are sent the other way
- Recommended for secondary monitoring; also suitable for primary reporting when integrated and approved/listed with the relevant fire panel
