The Xtralis VESDA VHX-0310 is an Open Protocol High Level Interface (HLI) in the master-slave configuration. It links a VESDAnet network with PC monitoring software, building management systems (BMS) or fire alarm control panels (the "host"). The host polls the HLI for changes in detector status and the HLI sends a single response to each poll, so no unsolicited messages are sent.
Key features
- Master-slave Open Protocol communication over RS-232
- Reports detector type, alarm status (Alert, Action, Fire 1, Fire 2), fault status, isolate/normalising/AutoLearn/scanning status, smoke level and fault details
- Detector controls: reset, isolate, silence, test, scan or normalise; configuration of day/night alarm thresholds (master-slave only)
- Can report fire alarms within a few seconds of a detector going into alarm, depending on the polling strategy
- Recommended by Xtralis for secondary monitoring; for primary reporting the HLI must be integrated and approved/listed with the relevant fire panel or reporting system
